The Gentlemen Leadership Society is a new community of alumni and friends, committed to building a unique fraternal experience at Kansas State. We offer financial scholarships to students who demonstrate extraordinary leadership potential, both on and off campus.
Organize and leverage resources (financial and career) of an affiliated group of K-State alumni to offer a select group of male undergraduate K-State students a unique fraternal experience focused on developing their full leadership potential through a distinctive set of shared experiences.
Rooted alongside the rich traditions of Kansas State University, our community helps development exceptional young men into leaders who will shape a brighter future for our campus, country, and world. We believe strong leadership is cultivated through a unique blend of academic excellence, ethical decision-making, and a commitment to service. At the core of our mission lies a dedication to empowering our men.
We also recognize the financial pressures faced by many students. To alleviate this burden and further invest in their futures, we proudly award impact financial scholarships to K-State students who demonstrate extraordinary leadership potential. This financial support allows students to focus on their academic pursuits and take advantage of shared experiences offered by the GLS community.
What sets GLS apart from other scholarships
1) impactful (baseline) scholarship awarded the student's freshman year and renewed annually through student's undergraduate college career (4-5 years), 2) pair GLS scholarship recipients together as roommates in a K-State dormitory their freshman and sophomore years, 3) leadership track incentives: incentivize GLS scholarship recipients to participate and excel in key College and University co-curricular and extra-curricular leadership organizations and activities, and 4) GLS scholarship recipients (and their families) interact with GLS alumni network through coordinated communications and activities.
GLS scholarships will be funded from a collective of existing and new endowed funds at the KSU Foundation established by K-State alumni donors, along with ongoing fundraising efforts coordinated with the KSU Foundation. An endowment can be established by one donor, or a group of donors, funded with current and/or deferred gifts. Currently, four endowed funds have been established: GLS Terry Huffman Scholarship, Randy D. Sims Family Leadership Scholarship, GLS Michael E. Traeger Scholarship, and the GLS Family Scholarship. Our goal is to grow the GLS Family Scholarship over the next few years to support 16 scholars by the 2027-28 academic year.
GLS scholarships awarded from the endowments or trusts are competitive (merit based), with preference to: male graduates of Kansas and other high schools, minimum high school GPA & display extraordinary leadership, minimum K-State GPA & demonstrate leadership skills on campus, reside in the residence halls at Kansas State University.
The support of a growing GLS alumni network and generous donors are helping to bring the GLS mission to life.
