Bradley Heyka’s years as a student at Kansas State University were some of his happiest. Amid scenic games of golf at Colbert Hills, K-State football victories and memorable times with the community he formed through his fraternity, Brad discovered a new passion: finance. He had long planned for a career in business, but his newfound clarity allowed him to narrow his focus and excel in the discipline.
Brad was ascending the ranks at Koch industries in December of 2000 when his life was tragically taken, along with those of three friends. In honor of his memory, his family established the GLS Bradley C. Heyka Scholarship to support promising young leaders who are pursuing a degree from K-State’s College of Business Administration.
If he were here today, we know Brad would be thrilled to help provide another student with the unforgettable K-State journey that was so transformative for him. Our family believes the GLS mission is perfectly aligned with that experience.

The Heyka family hopes Brad’s memory will live on through the GLS program and its values—lifelong friendships, academic excellence, ethical decision making and a commitment to service—as well as through the lives of its scholars.
