Tim Helton is a (mostly) retired software technology executive who has spent his entire career in the Kansas City area.
During retirement, Tim and his partners have invested in small technology startups in and around Kansas City. He also provides guidance for the startups through expertise, connections and strategies for growth.
My time at K-State gave me an opportunity to learn about focus and self-sufficiency, and to start down the road of leadership skills development. As an out-of-state student, it also afforded me an avenue to meet many new friends — some of whom became lifelong ‘brothers.’
I believe the GLS Family of Scholarships will provide today’s students with that same foundation for personal growth.

Tim and his wife, Nancy, live in Leawood with four grown kids all living nearby. He enjoys spending time with family, hot rods, boating and frequent fishing trips to Florida. Friendships formed during our K-State years in the mid-1970s (including Steve Thompson, Dave Friederich & Kevin Kientz, pictured below left to right) have endured for five decades!
