GLS founding benefactor Terry Huffman and his wife Glynis hosted GLS scholars and their parents at their Bill Snyder Family Stadium suite for an evening of fellowship and football (Kansas State vs. Arizona) at the inaugural GLS game day gathering. The gathering was attended by GLS scholars Paxton Etheredge, his parents Wes & Angela Etheredge and Aiden Lyons, his parents Darren & Holly Lyons.
The gathering was also attended by special guests Kyle Powers KSU ’09, and his wife Mallory. Kyle, a Manhattan real estate broker, is part of the GLS alumni network assisting GLS scholars as a local advisor. Dr. Derek Jackson, Director of K-State Housing & Dining Services, and representatives of KSU Foundation stopped by during the game to greet the GLS scholars and their parents.
Aiden Lyons captured the spirit of the evening, “The game was such an incredible experience! We enjoyed meeting Terry & Glynis as well as Kyle & Mallory. Watching the impressive performance of the Cats from way up in the suite reminded Paxton and I of how privileged we are to have so many leaders in our midst through GLS”.
Terry Huffman added, “Glynis and I loved the opportunity to meet Aiden, Paxton and their parents. These two young men are a great addition to our inaugural GLS class and are setting the standard for where we are headed”.
The GLS game day gathering is expected become an annual event and highlights a key distinguishing feature of GLS: GLS scholarship recipients (and their families) interact with GLS donors through coordinated communications and activities.
