With great anticipation and pride, Gentlemen Leadership Society (GLS) launched with a gathering at Wichita Country Club. GLS founding donors Mike Traeger and Brice Lowe welcomed the inaugural class of GLS scholars and their parents for a get acquainted dinner.
In attendance were GLS scholars Paxton Etheredge, his parents Wes & Angela Etheredge and Aiden Lyons, his parents Darren & Holly Lyons. Paxton and Aiden are both graduates of Kapaun Mt. Carmel Catholic High School (Wichita). The dinner was also attended by special guest Rob Knapp, President of Kapaun Mt. Carmel Catholic High School. Following dinner, Mike Traeger provided the group with background on GLS and upcoming GLS initiatives and events. Robb Knapp also shared his thoughts as the students prepare to start their college career at K-State.
“We at Kapaun Mt. Carmel are pleased to partner with the GLS scholars program and are grateful to its donors who are providing leadership learning and formation opportunities at K-State for these KMC graduates. We know that through their experiences with the GLS, these students will be challenged at K-State to reach their full potential.”
The dinner gathering is expected become an annual event and highlights a key distinguishing feature of GLS: GLS scholarship recipients (and their families) interact with GLS donors through coordinated communications and activities.
GLS is a community of Kansas State alumni and friends established to combine a unique fraternal experience with impact financial scholarships offered to Kansas State students who demonstrate extraordinary leadership potential.
