Gentlemen Leadership Society (GLS) recently held its second annual scholar gathering at Wichita Country Club. GLS founding members Mike Traeger, Dana Brewer and Brice Lowe welcomed all GLS scholars/member and their parents for a get acquainted dinner. In attendance were Class of 25 GLS scholars Carson Anderson, his parents Josh & Karen Anderson and Alex Berger, his parents Mike & Kristy Berger. Carson is a graduate of Shawnee Heights High School (Topeka), Alex is a graduate of McPherson High School. Also in attendance were GLS member Kolby Girrens, his parents Dustin & Nicole Girrens. Kolby, a junior at K-State, is a graduate of Bishop Carroll Catholic High School (Wichita). They were joined by Class of '24 GLS scholar Paxton Etheredge, his parents Wes & Angela Etheredge and Darren Lyons, father of Class of 24 GLS scholar Aiden Lyons.
The dinner was also attended by special guest Cliff Gilbert, GLS alumnus and head of GLS Mentor Program. Following dinner, Mike, Dana and Brice provided the group with background on GLS and upcoming GLS initiatives and events. Cliff shared contours of the GLS Mentor Program that provides GLS student scholars with the opportunity to be mentored by successful Kansas State alumni/GLS donors. The Class of '24 GLS scholars (now sophomores) and parents shared their experience with GLS.
The scholar gathering has become an annual event and highlights a key distinguishing feature of GLS: GLS scholarship recipients (and their families) interact with GLS donors through coordinated communications and activities.
GLS is a community of Kansas State alumni and friends established to combine a unique fraternal experience with impact financial scholarships offered to Kansas State students who demonstrate extraordinary leadership potential.
