Gentlemen Leadership Society (GLS) is pleased to announce the launch of a new KSU Foundation fund supporting a GLS scholarship. The fund is known as the GLS Timothy Helton Scholarship. The fund is established by Tim Helton KSU ’79. Tim is a (mostly) retired software technology executive who has spent his entire career in the Kansas City area. The GLS Timothy Helton Scholarship is structured similar to other GLS Scholarships: $5,000 annual award to K-State undergraduates, renewable up to 4 years. Preference will be given to incoming freshmen enrolled in the College of Business Administration who have displayed extraordinary leadership as high school students. The first GLS Timothy Helton Scholarship will be available for the 2026-27 academic year.
Tim was motivated to join the GLS family of scholarships by his own K-State college experience. “My time at K-State gave me an opportunity to learn about focus and self-sufficiency, and to start down the road of leadership skills development. As an out-of-state student, it also afforded me an avenue to meet many new friends - some of whom became lifelong ‘brothers.’ I believe the GLS family of scholarships will provide today’s students with that same foundation for personal growth.”
The GLS Timothy Helton Scholarship marks the fifth KSU Foundation fund supporting GLS scholarships, and long-term goal placing GLS among the premier merit based renewable scholarship programs for future K-State students.
